Our eyes are sensitive to light located in a very small region of the electromagnetic spectrum labeled “visible light.” This “visible light” corresponds to a wavelength range of 400 – 700 nanometers (nm) and a range of colors from violet to red. Black is completely lightless. The most important energy source for the earth is the sun. Sunlight consists of the entire electromagnetic spectrum. The wavelength of violet light is about 400 nm and the frequency is about 7.5*1014 Hz. The wavelength of red light is about 700 nm and the frequency is about 4.3*1014 Hz.
